Osteoporosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008362
A systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to increased bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures. It results from an imbalance between bone resorption and bone formation, with osteoclastic activity exceeding osteoblastic activity. Diagnosis often involves bone mineral density measurements using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA).
