Appendicular skeleton

The portion of the vertebrate skeleton that includes the bones of the limbs, as well as the pectoral (shoulder) and pelvic (hip) girdles that attach the limbs to the axial skeleton. This part of the skeleton is primarily involved in locomotion and manipulation of objects. In humans, it comprises 126 bones.
