Neuropeptide

A type of peptide that functions as a neurotransmitter, neuromodulator, or neurohormone within the nervous system. These molecules are synthesized in the cell body of neurons and transported to nerve terminals, where they are released to influence neuronal activity. Examples include endorphins, substance P, and vasopressin.
