Synaptic stripping
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011743
The process where microglial cells remove synaptic terminals from neurons, leading to a reduction in synaptic connections. This phenomenon occurs in response to injury, disease, or during normal brain development and aging. It is a form of synaptic plasticity that can contribute to neuronal circuit remodeling.
