Stripping solution

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011484

An aqueous solution used to transfer a solute from an organic solvent back into an aqueous phase during a back-extraction or stripping process. The composition of this solution is specifically formulated to alter the distribution ratio of the solute, favoring its movement out of the organic phase. For example, a change in pH or the addition of a complexing agent in the stripping solution can effectively recover the extracted species from the loaded solvent.
