pH0.5 or pH1/2
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008707
The pH value at which the distribution ratio of a solute between two immiscible phases is 0.5, meaning that half of the solute is in the aqueous phase and half is in the organic phase. This parameter is used in liquid-liquid extraction to characterize the extraction efficiency of an ionizable compound as a function of pH. It is a measure of the acidity or basicity required for optimal extraction.
