  "definition": "The transfer of a solute from an organic phase, where it has been concentrated by extraction, back into an aqueous phase. This process, also known as back-extraction or re-extraction, is effectively the reverse of the initial liquid-liquid extraction step. Stripping is accomplished by contacting the organic extract with an aqueous solution whose properties, such as pH or ionic strength, are adjusted to favor the partitioning of the solute back into the water.",
