Striatum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013598
A major subcortical structure of the forebrain, forming a key part of the basal ganglia. It is composed primarily of the caudate nucleus and the putamen, which are involved in motor control, cognition, and reward processing. The striatum receives extensive input from the cerebral cortex and projects to other basal ganglia nuclei.
