Telencephalon

The most anterior or rostral subdivision of the embryonic vertebrate brain, which gives rise to the cerebrum. In mammals, it differentiates into the cerebral hemispheres, which encompass the cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, hippocampus, and amygdala. This region is responsible for higher cognitive functions, including thought, language, memory, and voluntary movement.
