Tele-substitution

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011842

A type of substitution reaction where the entering group attaches to a position that is not directly adjacent to the carbon atom from which the leaving group departs. This contrasts with normal substitution, where the entering group replaces the leaving group at the same carbon. Tele-substitution often occurs in aromatic systems and involves an intermediate with rearranged bonding.
