Substitution reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011529
A chemical reaction in which one atom or group of atoms in a molecule is replaced by another atom or group of atoms. This process involves the breaking of an existing bond and the formation of a new bond at the same site. Examples include nucleophilic substitution at saturated carbon and electrophilic aromatic substitution.
