Substitution chain transfer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011528

A chain transfer reaction in polymerization where a radical abstracts an atom or group from a molecule, leading to the formation of a new radical and the termination of the original growing chain. The newly formed radical can then initiate a new polymer chain or undergo further reactions. This process influences the molecular weight and branching of the polymer.
