Degradative chain transfer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002932
A chain transfer reaction in polymerization where the newly formed radical, after transfer, is significantly less reactive or unable to reinitiate polymerization. This effectively terminates the kinetic chain, leading to a reduction in the overall polymerization rate and degree of polymerization. It is a common side reaction in many radical polymerization systems.
