Iniferter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005857
A chemical compound that acts as an initiator, transfer agent, and terminator in a radical polymerization. The molecule contains a labile bond that cleaves, often under photochemical or thermal stimulation, to generate a reactive radical that initiates polymerization and a persistent radical that reversibly terminates the growing chain. Dithiocarbamates are a well-known class of compounds used as iniferters in controlled radical polymerization.
