Iniferter process

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005858

A type of reversible-deactivation radical polymerization that uses an iniferter compound to control polymer growth. The process involves repeated cycles of chain propagation followed by reversible termination, where a growing polymer radical combines with a persistent radical derived from the iniferter. This mechanism establishes a dynamic equilibrium between active propagating chains and dormant species, leading to polymers with controlled molecular weight and low dispersity.
