Deactivator

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002879

A species that reversibly reacts with a propagating polymer chain to form a dormant species, thereby temporarily halting chain growth. This mechanism is central to reversible-deactivation radical polymerization techniques, allowing for control over polymer molecular weight and polydispersity. Examples include stable radicals or transition metal complexes.
