Carbonothioyl-mediated radical polymerization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001652

A controlled radical polymerization technique that employs carbonothioyl compounds, such as dithioesters or trithiocarbonates, as reversible chain transfer agents. This method allows for the synthesis of polymers with well-defined molecular weights and narrow polydispersities. It is a specific type of reversible-addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization.
