Chain transfer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001853
A process in chain polymerization where the growing polymer radical reacts with another molecule, transferring its radical character to that molecule and terminating the original polymer chain. The newly formed radical can then initiate a new polymer chain. This process affects the molecular weight and degree of branching of the polymer.
