Cationic polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001746
A type of chain polymerization initiated by a cationic species, such as a proton or a carbocation, which adds to a monomer containing an electron-rich double bond or a cyclic ether. The propagating species is a carbocation, which continues to add monomers. This method is particularly effective for monomers like isobutylene and vinyl ethers.
