Ionic ring-opening polymerization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006115

A type of ring-opening polymerization where the cyclic monomer is opened and polymerized through an ionic mechanism, involving either cationic or anionic active centers. This process leads to the formation of linear polymers from cyclic monomers. Common examples include the polymerization of lactones and cyclic ethers.
