Living ionic polymerization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006718

A type of chain polymerization where the active ionic chain ends maintain their reactivity throughout the polymerization, in the absence of intentional termination or chain transfer. This enables the synthesis of polymers with predictable molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distributions. The process can be either anionic or cationic, depending on the nature of the active species.
