Reversible-deactivation ionic polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010329
A chain polymerization where the propagating species are ionic and undergo reversible deactivation, creating an equilibrium between active and dormant chain ends. This rapid interchange between the active ionic centers and the inactive, dormant species allows for a controlled polymerization process. The result is the synthesis of polymers with predictable molar masses and narrow molar-mass distributions, a key feature of living polymerizations.
