Chain reactivation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001848

The conversion of a dormant polymer chain into an active one, allowing it to resume propagation. This process is the reverse of chain deactivation and is a characteristic feature of reversible-deactivation radical polymerization. The equilibrium between active and dormant species controls the overall polymerization rate and the properties of the final polymer, such as its molar-mass distribution.
