Chain deactivation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001837

The process in chain polymerization where an active chain end becomes temporarily or permanently inactive, ceasing to propagate. This can occur through reversible or irreversible reactions, leading to a dormant species or a terminated chain. Reversible deactivation is a key feature of controlled radical polymerization techniques.
