Reversible-deactivation cationic polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010327
A reversible-deactivation polymerization where the active chain carriers are carbocations or other cationic species. The process involves a rapid and reversible equilibrium between active propagating cations and dormant species, which are typically formed by reaction with a nucleophile or counter-ion. This control mechanism suppresses irreversible termination and chain-transfer reactions, yielding polymers with defined structures and low dispersity.
