Living anionic polymerization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006713

A type of chain polymerization where the active centers retain their reactivity throughout the reaction, in the absence of deliberate termination or chain transfer. This allows for the synthesis of polymers with precisely controlled molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distributions. The process typically involves initiation with strong nucleophiles, such as organolithium compounds, in an inert atmosphere.
