Radical ring-opening polymerization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009858

A type of chain polymerization where a cyclic monomer undergoes ring-opening initiated by a free radical, forming a linear polymer chain. The radical center is regenerated at the end of each propagation step, allowing the chain reaction to continue. This process often involves the formation of a more stable radical intermediate after ring cleavage.
