Ring-opening metathesis polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010364
A type of chain polymerization where cyclic olefins undergo ring-opening through a metathesis reaction, typically catalyzed by transition metal complexes, to form unsaturated polymers. The carbon-carbon double bonds within the cyclic monomer are cleaved and reformed to create a linear polymer chain. This process is widely used for synthesizing polymers with specific microstructures.
