Ring-opening copolymerization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010363

A polymerization process involving the opening of cyclic monomers and their subsequent incorporation into a growing polymer chain, alongside other comonomers. This method allows for the synthesis of copolymers with specific sequences and properties that cannot be achieved through homopolymerization. The resulting copolymers often exhibit enhanced mechanical or thermal characteristics.
