Ionic copolymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006109
A copolymerization process where the active centers on the growing polymer chains are ions, either carbocations or carbanions. This method involves the simultaneous polymerization of two or more different monomers through an ionic mechanism. The reactivity ratios of the monomers in ionic copolymerization are highly sensitive to the nature of the counterion and solvent.
