Ionic conductivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006108
For an ionic species B, the quantity defined as the absolute charge number times the Faraday constant times the electric mobility of the ion, whose SI unit is siemens square meter per mole. In practice the charge number is taken as one by quoting species such as half a calcium ion, so the species must be stated to avoid ambiguity. In materials science the same name is also used for the overall conductivity of a solid or liquid due to ion movement, in siemens per meter.
