Conductivity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002397

A measure of a material's ability to conduct electric current, defined as the reciprocal of its resistivity. For an electrolytic solution, it quantifies the current flow resulting from the movement of ions under the influence of an electric field. The SI unit for conductivity is siemens per meter (S/m), although units such as microsiemens per centimeter (μS/cm) are frequently used for aqueous solutions.
