Inner-sphere electron transfer atom-transfer radical polymerization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005886

A mechanism of atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) where electron transfer occurs directly between the metal catalyst and the dormant species through a bridging ligand. This direct interaction facilitates the activation and deactivation steps of the polymerization. It contrasts with outer-sphere electron transfer ATRP, where electron transfer occurs without direct ligand bridging.
