Photostimulated unimolecular radical nucleophilic substitution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008928
A multi-step reaction mechanism involving the substitution of a leaving group on an aromatic or vinylic substrate by a nucleophile. The process is initiated by the photoinduced transfer of an electron to the substrate, forming a radical anion which then expels the leaving group to yield an aryl or vinyl radical. This radical subsequently reacts with the nucleophile to produce the final product.
