Nucleophilic aromatic photosubstitution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008136
A photochemical reaction in which a nucleophile replaces a substituent on an aromatic ring, with the reaction being initiated by light absorption. Unlike thermal nucleophilic aromatic substitution, this process can occur even when the aromatic ring is not activated by strong electron-withdrawing groups. The reaction often proceeds via excited state intermediates.
