Photochemical aromatic substitution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008816
A type of substitution reaction on an aromatic ring that is initiated or promoted by light. Unlike thermal aromatic substitution, which often involves electrophilic or nucleophilic mechanisms, photochemical variants can proceed through radical or excited-state pathways. These reactions can lead to different regioselectivity compared to their thermal counterparts.
