Photocatalytic oxidation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008815
A chemical process where a substance is oxidized through the action of a photocatalyst under illumination. This process typically involves the generation of reactive oxygen species, such as hydroxyl radicals, on the catalyst surface. It is widely used for environmental remediation, including water and air purification.
