Black-body-like photocatalytic reactor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001358
A photoreactor in which the catalyst, as a powder layer or a concentrated dispersion, is thick enough that practically all the incident photons are absorbed, so the reactor behaves like a black body for the light entering it. The number of absorbed photons can then be taken as equal to the number incident, which is needed for quantum-yield measurements, both for photoadsorption and for photocatalysed reactions. The light should be monochromatic and the temperature well controlled.
