Photocatalytic efficiency

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008814

The number of product entities formed, or reactant entities consumed, divided by the number of photons incident on the system in a stated wavelength range, before any absorption. It expresses an engineering efficiency of energy out against energy in, so it is meaningful only when the operating conditions are given. With photon flux as the basis the term photonic efficiency is preferred, while monochromatic irradiation calls for photonic yield.
