Photonic efficiency

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008905

The ratio of the rate of a photoreaction, measured over a specified interval and usually under initial conditions, to the rate at which photons within a defined wavelength interval arrive at the irradiation window of the reactor. Because it counts incident rather than absorbed photons, it is lower than the corresponding quantum efficiency. It can exceed unity when the reaction proceeds by a chain mechanism.
