Photomineralisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008892
The complete degradation of organic compounds into simple inorganic species, such as carbon dioxide, water, and mineral acids, through a light-induced catalytic process. This process typically involves photocatalysts like titanium dioxide, which generate highly reactive species under illumination. It is widely applied in environmental remediation for purifying water and air.
