Photometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008891

The science of measuring light, specifically electromagnetic radiation, in terms of its perceived brightness to the average human eye. It differs from radiometry, which measures the absolute power of radiant energy without regard to human perception. Photometric measurements are weighted by the luminosity function, a standardized model of human visual sensitivity, and are expressed in units like the candela or lumen.
