Luminous quantities

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006813

A set of physical quantities in photometry that characterize light in terms of its perceived brightness to the human eye. These quantities are derived from corresponding radiant quantities by weighting the spectral power distribution with a standardized luminosity function, which represents the eye's average spectral sensitivity. Luminous quantities include luminous flux (measured in lumens), luminous intensity (candelas), luminance (candelas per square meter), and illuminance (lux).
