Complete mineralisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002322

The ultimate breakdown of organic compounds into their simplest inorganic constituents, such as carbon dioxide, water, and mineral salts. This process is typically carried out by microorganisms in the environment under aerobic conditions. It represents the final stage of degradation, where all carbon atoms are converted to carbon dioxide.
