Aerobic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012848
Relating to processes or organisms that require the presence of molecular oxygen for their metabolic activities or survival. Aerobic respiration, for example, is a metabolic pathway that uses oxygen as the final electron acceptor to generate adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Many microorganisms and all higher animals are obligate aerobes.
