Photosubstitution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008929
A chemical reaction in which a substituent on a molecule is replaced by another group, with the overall process being initiated or promoted by the absorption of light. This light-induced replacement can occur through homolytic or heterolytic bond cleavage pathways. An example is the photosubstitution of halide ions in aromatic compounds.
