Aromatic substitution photochemical radical-olefin combination

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000787

A photochemical aromatic substitution that joins three separate partners, a free radical, an alkene and an aromatic ring, with the regiochemistry set by a photoinduced electron transfer step. It differs from the electrophile-olefin combination, a two-component reaction in which an electron-rich arene reacts with an electron-deficient olefin in a polar solvent.
