Caudate nucleus

A C-shaped subcortical structure located within the basal ganglia of the brain, involved in motor control, learning, and memory. It forms part of the striatum and receives extensive input from the cerebral cortex. Damage to the caudate nucleus can contribute to neurological disorders such as Huntington's disease.
