Motor cortex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007597
A region of the cerebral cortex located in the frontal lobe, primarily responsible for planning, controlling, and executing voluntary movements. It sends signals down the spinal cord to activate motor neurons, initiating muscle contractions. Damage to the motor cortex can result in paralysis or impaired motor function.
