Potentiometric stripping analysis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009328

An electrochemical technique in which an analyte, such as a metal, is first accumulated at an electrode by reduction, for example into a mercury film, and then oxidized back into solution by an oxidant in the solution or by a constant anodic current. The electrode potential is recorded against time, and the transition time at each metal's potential plateau is proportional to its concentration. Unlike anodic stripping voltammetry, the potential is not scanned during the stripping step.
